- Before you choose
Do some research to make sure the artist you choose is capable of doing the style of tattoo you want. Have in mind that all tattoo shops would really like to sell you a tattoo. We suggest that you go into the studio if possible, before your tattoo to see if the artist and studio are the right vibe for you. (A good tattoo artist is worth the extra travel )
So choose carefully.
- How old do I need to be to get tattooed?
In Massachusetts, you must be 18 years old with valid photo ID- state issued drivers license, passport, etc
- Does it hurt?
Yes, but it is bearable. There are a number of factors that determine what your experience will be like: location on the body and state of mind are two big ones. People experience getting poked with needles uncomfortable, while others may enjoy it. For most people it is somewhere in the middle and find the experience to be rather annoying, but worth the pain. Usually after about 5 or 10 minutes it becomes easier. Eating a good meal beforehand, getting plenty of sleep the night before, and trying to stay relaxed, all make the experience more tolerable.
- Are the artists and studio licensed?
The studio and each body art practitioner are licensed with the Town of Provincetown Board of Health. The requirements include documented studio experience, proof of apprenticeship, certification in First Aid, CPR, and OSHA blood borne pathogens; which includes universal precautions, waste disposal, hand washing techniques, disinfection, and sterilization methods and techniques. The studio itself is also licensed and inspected for safety in accordance with Provincetown’s Board of Health regulations.
- Do you have designs to choose from?
Yes, we have a large selection of flash, pictures of designs to choose from on the wall, lots of books and an endless supply of reference material as well as, custom drawing the tattoo specifically for the client. We encourage you to bring any kind of art or reference material that will help your artist bring your idea to life. Of course, if you already have the exact image of what you want for your tattoo we can do that for you too. All styles are welcome!
- Do I need an appointment?
No! We take walk-ins as well! First come, first served basis.
- I have a tattoo that I want to fix. What can you do for me?
Yes, consult with your artist. Whether you simply want to re-new an old favorite or completely cover a tattoo, we would be happy to discuss ideas with you.
- What are the prices?
Price varies on the size of the tattoo, detail of the design, the amount of time it will take. Come in to talk to an artist about your idea and we can give you a better idea on the price.
- Do you require a deposit?
Yes, a $100 cash or Paypal deposit, which goes towards the cost of your tattoo, is necessary to reserve an appointment. We cannot hold a time slot for you until we receive a deposit. We have a 24 hour cancellation policy to either reschedule or refund your deposit.
